These are the places where children grow up, where workers can earn a living and people call home. Ensuring sustainable, healthy and resilient communities is at the heart of climate action.

We need a Canadian plan that prepares us for the future.

Canada’s unions support ambitious climate action. Workers in Canada and around the world are already experiencing the impacts of climate change on their lives and on their health and safety. We need governments to rebuild our economy in a way that is more fair, that protects the planet, creates jobs that are both green and decent and that leaves no one behind. The science is clear. Missing our climate milestones is not an option.

What is a just transition?

Canada’s workforce is changing. Just transition means a pathway for workers to move into new, greener jobs when industries shift. Workers must be at the forefront of legislation, promised by the government, to tackle climate change. Legislation that will ensure high quality, low carbon, union jobs – that means no one will lose their job without having another one available to them. Good for workers, their families and their communities.

Canada runs on our labour and we’ll be there to help build Canada’s sustainable future. If we work together, we can ensure a just transition that not only guarantees quality jobs — it makes the world a better place.

This is our moment, we can turn back the clock on climate change and fight for a better future where no one gets left behind.

Our Canadian plan will take us forward together.

Take Action

We have one chance to get this recovery right. A Canadian plan that keeps us safe and replaces lost jobs with better ones.
