Fix our public health care system

Staff shortages and years of chronic underfunding are putting our public health system at risk. Without urgent action, hospital and care workers are looking at yet another summer with no break.

It’s time for governments at all levels to come together to protect and strengthen public health care. This means permanent funding increases tied to better health outcomes for Canadians – including urgent progress on:

• Implementing pharmacare, so needed medicines are affordable for all
• Addressing the shortage of nurses, personal support workers and all health care workers
• Improving mental health supports, and
• Taking profits out of long-term care and establishing a standard of care
