Workers and their families are struggling to put food on the table while grocery CEOs celebrate record profits. Across the country, people are speaking out but we need our government to rein in corporate greed.

Our food bills are spiraling out of control. Food prices increased by a record-breaking 11% in the past year, higher than inflation. At grocery stores across the country, people are being charged up to $5 for a bag of chips, $7 for a head of lettuce and over $8 for a pound of butter.

The Bank of Canada has raised interest rates aggressively, further driving up costs for already stretched-thin households and putting hundreds of thousands at risk of a recession. Experts predict food bills could soar by an extra $1,000 next year.

Something needs to change soon before things get much worse. We’re calling on grocery CEOs to lower prices to provide immediate relief to families and demanding our government take action to rein in corporate greed.
